Gate Servicing & Repairs - Overview:
Gate motor repairs, fault tracing and annual servicing for automatic gates of any brand across Christchurch and Canterbury.
- Sliding, swing, cantilever and telescopic gates all repaired
- Replacement parts matched to the exact motor model, not equivalents
- Where parts support has ended, retrofit automation costed against repair
- Annual gate maintenance covers hinges, rollers, tracks, drive gears and battery backup
- Solar gates also checked for panel output and battery condition
- Attendance normally within a week, with after-hours callouts available
- Every visit finishes with obstruction, force and photocell testing
- High-cycle commercial and multi-unit gates serviced more than annually
Diagnosing automatic gate faults before anything is replaced
When an automatic gate stops working, we check it in a set order: power supply, control board, motor, safety devices, and finally the remote signal. A flat sensor battery and a failed control board look identical from the driveway, so nothing is replaced on guesswork.
Service calls are usually scheduled within a week, with after-hours callouts available for gates and barrier machines where urgent access is required.

Urgent gate repairs & after-hours support
We schedule service calls within a week - often sooner - handling enquiries within one working day. Operating Monday to Friday (8.00am–4.30pm), we also provide weekend bookings and after-hours emergency call-outs available where needed.
You'll deal with one team from your first call through to completion, with electricians, landscapers and other trades coordinated where the job requires them.
Proudly based in Christchurch and serving Canterbury daily, we also deliver our specialist services across the South Island and nationwide (Wellington, Auckland).
What annual electric gate servicing and maintenance covers
Prevent unexpected breakdowns before they happen. Our routine annual servicing keeps your gate mechanism running smoothly, recalibrates safety devices, checks battery backups, and clears debris from tracks, extending the lifespan of your motor.
Frequency depends on use and site: a busy commercial gate needs more attention than a residential driveway, and salt air, dust, gravel and frost accelerate wear.
Servicing also protects your cover: the one-year on-site warranty extends a year with each annual service, to three years.
On solar gate systems, we check panels, sightlines and battery health.

Gate repairs on any brand, age or drive system
We service and repair gate systems installed by other companies, inherited with the property or missing original paperwork.
From underground, articulated arm, ram drive, sliding rack-and-pinion and cantilever systems, plus the gate: steel, aluminium and timber leaves, frames, posts, hinges, rollers and tracks, we focus on repairing rather than replacing wherever possible.
When an older system is no longer supported, we seamlessly retrofit high-performance modern automation onto your existing gate setup instead of improvising quick fixes. Older intercom systems are assessed the same way.
Most often the safety beams. They sit at knee height on the posts and collect insects, spiders and moisture, and battery-powered units go offline when a cell goes flat. The fault is traced before anything is quoted or replaced.
Yes. Gates that came with the house, or were installed by a company no longer trading, are still repairable. Preferred brands apply only to new installations - for repairs, most brands are serviced regardless.
Attendance is normally within a week. After-hours callouts are available for gates and barrier machines at higher rates. If the gate has stopped mid-cycle, the manual release can be talked through over the phone.
Once a year suits most residential driveways. High-cycle commercial or multi-unit gates need servicing more often. Between visits, check the safety beams yourself for insects and debris.
Outdoor electronics more than a few years old are often past parts support, as manufacturers discontinue older versions. Where support has ended, repair cost is compared against replacement, and retrofitting current automation is frequently better value.
